The Road Trip
For 5 weeks Jen, Tobin and Anthony went on a 4700km road trip around Europe. We hired a Peugeot 370SW car for the trip. We flew into Dubrovnik, Croatia, where we met family. Two weeks later we crossed into Slovenia and spent a few days with our friend Latham. Then we entered Hungary and travelled by the slow roads for two weeks, eventually meeting Martin in Budapest. We then drove across the continent to Martin's home in Basel, Switzerland. Finally we traveled to Northern France to visit Nick and Ike in Lille. Then we dropped off the car and flew out of Paris. |

We had twelve nights on the Adriatic coast with the family. The weather was hot, the water warm,
and the people friendly. After seeing hundreds of red tiled rooves and lots of blue water, we struck off
inland by ourselves. The rest of the family headed back to France.

We had three nights in Slovenia. Our friend Latham joined us for the first two of them. We were surprised by what a
nice country it was, and how much it reminded us Germany and Austria.

We had about two weeks in Hungary. We started in Koszeg, near the Austrian border. We travelled on small roads stopping as often as possible. First, we travelled South-East across The Great Plain visiting Kecskemet and Hortobagy. Then driving North we went to Eger, the home of "Bull's Blood" wine. Then finally we had a few days in Budapest where our friend Martin joined us.

Leaving Hungary we drove with Martin to his house in Basel, Switzerland. We stopped in Germany and Austria for schnitzel, beer, lederhosen, and accordion music. We had two nights in Basel with Martin before driving to Lille to visit the Cranshaws in their home town. We flew home from Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris.
