After crossing from India we arrived in Lahore. A big old city. The markets were colourful and bustling. The city also boasts some of the best Moghul architecture.

We then headed to the Islamabad-Rawalpindi-Taxila area. All these towns are within 20km of each other. Islamabad is the modern capital, Rawalpindi a commercial center, and Taxila a set of ruins from the time of Alexander the Great.

Following this we again headed north, this time to the Karakorum mountains. The Karakorums are spectacular mountains. Often extremely barren, but with many lush valleys. The valleys are around 2000m and the peaks up to 8000m. In this area we visited Gilgit, Naltar valley, Hunza valley, and Passu.

We then headed back down to a city called Peshawar at the bottom of the Khyber pass. We took a day trip up the pass to the Afghanistan border.

After a 36hr train we went to Quetta in Baluchistan where we relaxed before crossing to Iran.
